THE GOOD COACH: DR. JOANNE GRAF
Florida State softball is forever tied to Dr. JoAnne Graf. An FSU alumna and shortstop on the early teams of the 1970s, Dr. Graf helped transform an upstart Seminole softball squad into one of the most successful programs in the country. Over three decades as head coach, Dr. Graf led FSU to two AIAW (Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) slow-pitch National Championships, seven NCAA Women’s College World Series appearances and 10 ACC titles. The Noles finished with winning records in each of her 30 seasons, including 50 or more victories in half of those years. Known for her quiet yet passionate demeanor, winning ways and determination to uplift all players, Dr. Graf remains an integral character in the story of FSU softball.
