ON TOP OF THE WORLD

FSU advanced to the NCAA Women’s College World Series (WCWS) in four straight seasons from 1990 to 1993. On May 24, 1990, the Seminoles defeated Fresno State 1-0 for the first NCAA WCWS win in Dr. JoAnne Graf’s tenure. LF Leslie Barton scored the game’s lone run by stealing home on an errant throw. SS Penny Sisqueiros (left) then made a deep infield throw on a bases-loaded play for the out, preserving the victory. Dr. Graf led the Noles to seven NCAA WCWS overall, including appearances in 1987, 2002 and 2004.
