FSU welcomed its first official intercollegiate women’s basketball team in 1973, just one year after Title IX paved the way for women’s intercollegiate sports across the nation. Though female students had participated in athletics well before the 1970s, the formalization of the Seminole basketball squad marked the start of an exciting new era.
