GREAT TO MEAD YOU
Date: 1990s
Following 16 seasons as head coach at Tennessee Tech, Marynell Meadors arrived in Tallahassee in 1986. A basketball pioneer in her own right, Meadors took over a Seminole program that had struggled with three straight losing seasons. Under Meadors’ wing, the Seminoles won their first Metro Conference regular season title and Metro Tournament championship. She also guided FSU to back-to-back NCAA Tournament bids in 1990 and 1991. Meadors left the program in 1996 to coach the now-defunct WNBA Charlotte Sting.
