THE EARLY YEARS
In Spring 1947, Florida State College for Women reopened as a coeducational institution known as Florida State University. The return of male students to the Tallahassee campus provided the opportunity for a football team, and FSU played their first season in modern history in the fall of 1947. Over the team’s first two decades, the Seminoles built a program identity with major wins, all-time great players and new traditions. Learn more about the early years of FSU football here.
