SELLERS: A TRUE SEMINOLE
This action photograph captures legendary WR Ron Sellers during his record-setting career at FSU. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Sellers suited up for the Seminoles from 1966 to 1968 and rewrote the receiving record books. He earned consensus All-American honors in 1967 and set FSU single-game records for receptions (16), receiving yards (260) and touchdown catches (five). His most iconic moment came on November 25, 1967, when he caught a 38-yard touchdown pass from QB Kim Hammond to seal FSU’s first-ever victory over Florida in Gainesville. Drafted sixth overall by the Boston Patriots in 1969, Sellers went on to play five seasons in the NFL and had his FSU number (34) retired in 1969. His name still echoes through Doak Campbell Stadium as one of the greatest receivers in college football history.
