RING AROUND THE POSEY
Date: 2008 Season
Buster Posey wasn’t new to national recognition for his efforts on the baseball field. He received this Collegiate Rawlings Gold Glove Award as one of the “finest” players in college baseball. It was just one of a multitude of national awards given to the catcher after his sensational 2008 season, in addition to ACC Player of the Year and the Dick Howser Award. Following his career at FSU, Posey was drafted fifth overall in the 2008 MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants. Posey spent his entire career in the Bay Area, winning three World Series and the 2012 NL MVP Award. A superstar in Tallahassee and in the major leagues, Posey was inducted into FSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018.
