OSCEOLA AND RENEGADE

On the cover of the 2013 National Championship-winning team’s media guide are two of the most recognizable figures in college football. For decades, an actor playing Seminole warrior Osceola rides an Appaloosa horse named Renegade I onto the Doak Campbell Stadium turf, rallying fans to victory. FSU graduate Bill Durham started the tradition in 1978, and later received permission from the Seminole Tribe of Florida to go forward with it. The tradition honors the namesake of FSU’s athletics teams.
