BOBBY’S FIRST SEASON

The 1976 football season marked legendary coach Bobby Bowden’s first season at the helm. Athletic director John Bridgers said of Bowden, “His reputation and integrity are above reproach. He has experience, personality and background to bring winning football back to Florida State.” Boy was he right! While the season ended with a 5-6 record, it set the Seminoles on the path to success. The 1976 season would be the only campaign under Bobby Bowden in which FSU finished with a losing record.
