ON THE OFFENSIVE
With 34 points (14 goals, six assists) in the 2014 season, F Cheyna Williams powered the Seminoles to their first National Championship. Williams, a junior transfer from Vanderbilt, went on a tear in the NCAA Tournament. She scored goals against South Alabama and Northeastern in the first two rounds, then doubled up with two scores against No. 18 South Carolina in the Elite Eight. In the College Cup Final Four, No. 2 FSU faced No. 3 Stanford, who had shut out the Seminoles in their previous two College Cup meetings. But this year, FSU had a secret weapon in Williams! She scored the game’s only goals as the Noles claimed a 2-0 win to advance to the College Cup Final. After FSU won the National Championship, Williams was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player of the NCAA Tournament. “All of this couldn’t have happened without the players I’m surrounded by,” Williams said. “My teammates are the reason why I’m able to be successful.”
