NOT FOR THE MEEK
Date: 1950s to 1960s
You couldn’t judge a book by its cover when it came to F Dave Fedor (No. 43). A newcomer in the 1959-60 season, one local sportswriter described Fedor as “a bespectacled, soft-spoken ace on the hardwood whose left handed ‘soft touch’ push shots and rugged defensive play belie his meek appearance.” The sophomore was anything but meek, enjoying his most productive campaign by averaging 21.2 points and 16.0 rebounds per game. His 530 total points marked just the sixth time a Seminole reached 500 points in a season. Fedor collected 43 of those points in a loss to Miami, tying a program record for most points in a game (since broken). Of Fedor’s 25 games played that campaign, 19 resulted in double-doubles.
