MAMI’S FAST START

F Mami Yamaguchi had an impressive start to her Seminole career in the 2005 season. On September 16, Yamaguchi provided two vital assists in a comeback win over in-state rival No. 7 Florida. The next week, Yamaguchi would register her first career goal in a 3-1 win over North Carolina State at home. Less than one month later, the Tokyo native scored her first career golden goal, sealing a double-overtime victory in the 105th minute over ACC rival Duke. The conference took notice of her talents, naming her to the ACC All-Freshman Team. She also earned an honorable mention as a Freshman All-American by Soccer Buzz.
