GREAT WALL OF SEMINOLES
Date: April 15, 2009
Defender Becky Edwards headlined a back line that allowed only 15 goals in the 2008 season, the fewest in program history. That same defensive unit put together four consecutive shutout victories in ACC play, another program first. For her efforts that season, Edwards was named a First Team All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and a member of the ACC All-Conference Second Team. Over her four years at FSU, she was a part of a defense that produced 50 shutouts over 102 games. Edwards was named to the FSU Athletics Hall of Fame induction class of 2021, but was formally inducted in 2022 after the ceremony was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
