MAESTRO OF THE METRO
After limited playing time in his first two years, G George McCloud shined as a starter in his final two seasons. His senior campaign of 1988-89 was especially remarkable. McCloud averaged 22.8 points per game, along with 125 assists and 53 steals, all team-highs. He remains one of only a handful of Seminoles to average at least 22 points in a season, joining the likes of G Ron King and G Jim Oler. A sniper behind the arc, McCloud also set a program record with 115 3-pointers that season. For his offensive prowess, McCloud was named 1989 Metro Conference Player of the Year. “I think this award shows my character as an individual,” McCloud said. “I never gave up on myself, and I have confidence in my ability. But I couldn’t have achieved this without Coach (Pat Kennedy) giving me the freedom and my teammates giving me the ball.”
