KING GETS HER CROWN
Date: June 4, 2018
Meghan King threw a complete-game shutout in the first match of the 2018 Women’s College World Series, working all seven innings as No. 6 FSU defeated No. 5 Washington, 1-0. She allowed just five hits, struck out six batters and issued only two walks in a dominant performance that set the tone for the championship series. King retired 14 of the final 17 batters she faced and the victory improved King’s season record to 25-6. FSU’s pitching performance in Game 1 transitioned nicely to a Game 2 victory and sweep of the championship series.
