FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR

Sydney Sherrill earned ACC Freshman of the Year honors in 2018 after delivering one of the most impactful debut seasons in Seminole softball history. The freshman shortstop set an ACC record and tied the NCAA single-season mark with 29 doubles, establishing herself as a constant extra-base threat throughout the year. Sherrill was a First-Team All-ACC selection and carried her production into the postseason, contributing timely hits and steady defense during FSU’s run to the Women’s College World Series title. In the championship series, she doubled in Game 2 and helped anchor an infield that weathered early pressure before pulling away to secure the National Championship. It capped a freshman season defined by consistency, confidence and composure.
