HIGH FIVE
OF Kaley Mudge was part of the Seminole core that finished as National Champion runners-up in 2021 and 2023. As a sophomore in 2021, Mudge led the team with a .333 batting average in 57 games. She transitioned to a starter in the postseason, with her role of leadoff batter setting the table for FSU’s run to the Women’s College World Series (WCWS). On June 7, Mudge made history in a semifinals matchup against No. 3 Alabama. She went 5-for-5, becoming the first player with five hits in a seven-inning WCWS game. The feat was especially notable considering that it came against Crimson Tide pitcher Montana Fouts, who threw a perfect game against UCLA just three days earlier. Mudge’s five hits in a WCWS game broke UT Alex Powers’ program record of four hits in 2016 and remains one of the best performances in WCWS history.
