FUENTES ON FIRE

Initially cut by the FSU baseball team, OF Mike Fuentes earned a place as a walk-on in 1978. Over the next four seasons, he would confidently establish himself as an integral part of the Seminole family. Fuentes earned the Golden Spikes Award in 1981 as the best player in college baseball, becoming the first player from FSU to win the award. By the time he finished his career in Tallahassee, Fuentes was top 10 in team history in runs (244), home runs (64), RBIs (234) and total bases (521).
