FAMOUS FACES IN ’71
Date: November 20, 1971
The 1971 season was Larry Jones’ first as the head coach of the Seminoles. The team featured several notable players, including DB James “J.T.” Thomas, the first Black starter and All-American in program history. That season, Thomas compiled 57 tackles, two interceptions and a blocked kick. Thomas wasn’t the only famous face on the team. Future Pro Football Hall of Fame coach Bill Parcels served as the linebackers coach for the Seminoles, a position he would hold through the 1972 season.
