FAMILY BUSINESS
Date: 1990s
Following in his father’s footsteps, Mike Martin Jr. (No. 4) both played and coached at FSU. Martin Jr. was the Seminole starting catcher from 1993 to 1995, leading the Noles to two College World Series appearances. After three seasons playing in the minor leagues, Martin Jr. returned to Tallahassee as an assistant coach, focusing on batting and recruiting. He worked alongside the senior Martin for 22 years, then succeeded his father as head coach from 2020 to 2022. Between both men, someone named “Mike Martin” had coached the Seminoles for 43 straight seasons.
