NOLES TO THE PROS

Florida State became a major MLB pipeline during Mike Martin’s tenure. In his four decades as skipper, Martin coached over 200 MLB draft picks, including 20 selected in the first round and 60 total who reached the major leagues. Among the most notable players were 2012 NL MVP and three-time World Series winner Buster Posey; 2007 World Series winner J.D. Drew; and 1994 first overall pick Paul Wilson. Martin also coached Cal Raleigh (left) for three seasons, a power-hitting catcher who won the 2025 Home Run Derby.
