BIG MAN, BIGGER HEART
Established in 2005, the Wuerffel Trophy honors college football players for their dedication to community service and leadership on and off the field. In 2022, OL Dillan Gibbons became the first Seminole to win the award, named after Florida Gators QB Danny Wuerffel. Gibbons was recognized for his non-profit Big Man Big Heart, which encouraged college athletes to use their NIL to promote unity, positivity and kindness in the community. With the award, the 6-foot-5, 327-pound redshirt senior showed just how big his heart is. “I hope my legacy is one of someone who was able to compartmentalize their life and make the most of this opportunity,” Gibbons said. “I tried my best to do the best I could, whether on the football field … or in the classroom pursuing an MBA or off the field, doing as much good as possible in the community.”
