BECKY’S BREAKOUT YEAR

Though FSU had seen it for a while, senior defender Becky Edwards finally had her shining breakout campaign in 2009. She began the season registering her first career hat trick in a 7-0 win over Jacksonville at home. Edwards also contributed the first Seminole goal in a 3-2 double-overtime win over rival No. 2 North Carolina, ending a 14-game winless streak against the school. Though FSU’s NCAA Tournament run would end in the quarterfinals, Edwards found some hardware to hang her hat on. She earned first team All-ACC accolades and became the school’s first CoSIDA Academic All-American, earning third team honors.
