A MULTITUDE OF FIRSTS
Date: November 17, 2002
Cindy Schofield was a star forward for the Seminoles during her four-year reign with the team. Leading the charge, she was present and active for a multitude of notable firsts for the program, particularly during the 2000 season. In October, Schofield knocked back FSU’s second goal of the game en route to a 3-2 double-overtime win over juggernaut No. 2 North Carolina. It was the first win over the Tar Heels in program history. Further down the line, No. 14 FSU defeated Jacksonville, 4-1, in Tallahassee in the first round of the 2000 NCAA Tournament, with Schofield scoring the game’s final goal in the 83rd minute. It was the first NCAA tournament match and win in program history.
