A SHARP DEFENSEWOMAN
Date: September 24, 2004
D Kelly Rowland joined the Seminole soccer squad at just the right time. A native of Wallingford, Pennsylvania, Rowland came to Tallahassee as one of the nation’s top recruits and made an immediate impact when she stepped on the pitch. Rowland quickly became known for her sharp defending and last-minute heroics. As a freshman in the 2003 season, she notched six goals and four assists on the way to FSU’s first College Cup appearance in program history. For these efforts, she was named a First-Team Freshman All-American. Rowland’s commanding presence in her first year and the next three after set Seminole soccer on the path to becoming the national powerhouse the program is today.
