TOPPLED THE TAR HEELS
In her four years as a Seminole, midfielder India Trotter appeared in a number of exhilarating matchups. None was more thrilling than a chilly night against No. 2 North Carolina in 2005. Coming into the game, FSU had been 1-17 in all previous matchups with the perennial powerhouse Tar Heels. Trotter opened the scoring for the Noles in the 9th minute. Though North Carolina would eventually equalize, the Seminoles were able to emerge victorious through a penalty shootout, 5-4. With the win, FSU advanced to the College Cup Final Four for just the second time in program history. After the game, Trotter spoke about her goal, saying, “I knew I had to finish that one. You don’t get many chances versus UNC so when you do you better take advantage.”
