BREAKING OUT FOR THE WCWS
IF Devyn Flaherty proved her value in Tallahassee during her breakout sophomore season of 2021. As a batter, Flaherty posted a .281 average with a team-leading 52 hits and 19 stolen bases. Playing second base, she recorded a .946 fielding average and made 18 double plays. Flaherty continued her offensive efficiency in the 2021 NCAA Tournament and Women’s College World Series (WCWS). She started the tournament with a six-game hitting streak and recorded hits in nine of 13 postseason games overall. No. 10 FSU came up short in the WCWS National Championship against No. 1 Oklahoma, but Flaherty enjoyed the ride. “Now knowing what it was like and how much hard work goes into it, I have a little more of a taste for sure,” she said. Flaherty’s veteran experience helped the Seminoles return to the WCWS finals in 2023.
