YOUNG GUN
Despite his youth, G Bob Sura played a critical role in FSU’s NCAA Tournament runs in his freshman and sophomore seasons. As the 1992 ACC Freshman of the Year, Sura tallied 32 points in three games as the Seminoles advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in two decades. He came back stronger in the 1993 NCAA Tournament, with 57 points in four contests. Sura’s 17 points led the team in a loss to powerhouse No. 3 Kentucky in the Elite Eight. Wake Forest coach Dave Odom, whose team also faced the Wildcats in the tournament, said Sura wouldn’t be rattled by Kentucky’s pressure. “Sura does not know what intimidation means,” Odom said. At the end of his career, Sura became the all-time leading scorer in program history with 2,130 points.
