WYS: MVP OF THE ACC
With redshirt sophomore Kelsey Wys in goal, the Noles won their first ACC Championship in program history in 2011. No. 14 FSU faced No. 9 Wake Forest in the championship game, a defensive battle that went into two scoreless overtime periods and forced a shootout. After allowing a goal on the first Deacons attempt, Wys made three consecutive saves to lift the Seminoles to victory. “She’s really good with that. Her anticipation, her ability to read body language,” said coach Mark Krikorian. “So we have a great deal of confidence in her in that situation.” For her efforts, Wys was named the 2011 ACC Tournament MVP. She ended her Seminole career with 29 wins against ACC opponents and 74 wins overall, both program records.
