BETTER THAN EVER
“When I came to Florida State, I just wanted to be better,” said M Onyi Echegini, who transferred from Mississippi State to FSU in 2022. With that message in mind, Echegini won an array of major awards as a redshirt senior in the 2023 season. Echegini was named ACC Offensive Player of the Year and MVP of the ACC Tournament, as well as a First Team All-Conference member and a First Team All-American by United Soccer Coaches. Just weeks after leading FSU to their fourth National Championship, Echegini became the third Seminole to win the coveted Honda Sports Award, presented to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports. It’s safe to say Echegini, who signed with Italian club Juventus, came out better after her time in Tallahassee.
