This game-used football from the 1951 season bears the name Bob Schmelz, a senior guard and three-year letterman for FSU at the time. Schmelz played during an era when the program was still forging its identity. In 1951, the Seminoles posted an impressive 6-2 record, with shutout victories over Troy State (40-0), Delta State (34-0), Jacksonville Naval Air Station (39-0) and Wofford (14-0).
