WEINKE’S SECOND CHANCE

Chris Weinke wore these garnet and white Nike cleats during the BCS National Championship game on January 4, 2000. Weinke’s passing efficiency proved vital, throwing four touchdowns and completing passes to six different receivers as the Seminoles defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies, 46-29, for the national title. Weinke returned for his senior season in 2000, leading FSU to their third National Championship appearance in as many years. He also took home the Heisman Trophy that season, becoming just the second player in program history to win the prestigious award.
