THE SUPER BOWL MVP
After a stellar stint at FSU, WR Fred Biletnikoff enjoyed a fantastic professional career. The Oakland Raiders selected Biletnikoff with the No. 11 pick of the 1965 AFL Draft, giving the team a reliable target and six-time Pro Bowler over the next 14 seasons. Oakland made two Super Bowl appearances during his tenure, ultimately winning their first championship in Super Bowl XI. Recording 79 yards on four catches, including a 48-yard catch-and-run in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach, Biletnikoff was named Super Bowl MVP. A lifelong Raider, Biletnikoff retired after the 1978 season and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1988. Legendary Raiders coach John Madden commented on Biletnikoff: “The greatest at getting open who ever played wide receiver — never saw anyone like him.”
