THE SIXTH SENSE
Even under the bright lights of the 2010 NCAA Tournament, redshirt freshman G/F Chasity Clayton stayed cool under pressure. She collected 10 points, nine rebounds and a steal as No. 3 FSU downed No. 14 Louisiana Tech in the first round. Clayton would score in all four postseason games that year as FSU made a run to the Elite Eight. Though she was not the team’s leading scorer, Clayton understood her importance as a bench player. “I’m the hype man,” she said. “I get everybody going, so starting doesn’t mean nothing to me. As long as we get a win, who cares?” Clayton’s reliability off the bench continued throughout her Seminole career, capped off with the 2013 ACC Sixth Player of the Year award. She remains part of a small group of players to appear in at least 120 games in program history.
