THE MOST DANGEROUS MAN IN THE ACC
G Sam Cassell shined in his senior season of 1992-93, averaging 18.3 points per game and setting a program record with 97 steals. He had career-highs of eight steals in back-to-back games against Jacksonville and UConn in February 1993. Cassell also managed three steals against No. 1 Kentucky in the Elite Eight of the 1993 NCAA Tournament. Coaches across the ACC recognized the weapon FSU had in Cassell. “In my mind Sam Cassell is the most dangerous man in the conference,” said Wake Forest coach Dave Odom. Added Naismith Basketball Hall-of-Famer and longtime Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, “I think Sam Cassell has had one of the really outstanding years of a kid in our conference. … I’m not sure that all he does goes noticed, and it should be.”
