THE GRIT AND BRAINS OF NO. 7
QB Christian Ponder was the embodiment of leadership and resilience during his FSU career from 2006 to 2010. A two-time team captain and Academic All-American, Ponder helped steer the Seminoles into the Jimbo Fisher era and laid the foundation for the program’s return to national prominence. On October 22, 2009, Ponder completed a 98-yard touchdown pass to WR Rod Owens, which tied a program record for longest touchdown pass. In 2010, he led FSU to their first 10-win season since 2003 and a Chick-fil-A Bowl victory over South Carolina. Born in Dallas, Texas, Ponder was selected 12th overall in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. He started 36 games over four seasons with the Vikings, passing for more than 6,600 yards and 38 touchdowns. This jersey and pants represent one of the most cerebral and steady quarterbacks to wear the Garnet and Gold.
