THE FIRST NOLES PRO
Date: 1950s to 1960s
Opposing teams could only look on helplessly whenever Dave Fedor went for a layup. The 6-foot-6 forward closed out his Seminole career with 1,456 points and 969 rebounds, along with a program-record 44 double-doubles (since broken). That production attracted attention from the pros. The Philadelphia (later Golden State) Warriors selected Fedor with the No. 25 overall pick of the 1962 NBA Draft, making him the first Seminole to ever be drafted. Though Fedor’s professional career was limited to seven games, his selection put Florida State on the professional map and marked the first of more than 40 Seminoles who have since joined the NBA ranks.
