ON CLOUD 21
Date: 1980s
Although he was best known for his explosive scoring, G George McCloud could get grab a rebound or make the occasional block. He pulled down 109 rebounds in the 1988-89 season, just one of four Seminoles with triple-digit boards that year. Because of his abilities as an all-around player, the Daytona Beach native was considered a hot prospect for the 1989 NBA Draft. The Indiana Pacers selected McCloud No. 7 overall — the first guard taken in the draft — making him the highest FSU pick since Dave Cowens (No. 4 in 1970). McCloud enjoyed a 12-season career with five teams.
