THE FIRST FINAL
Date: December 9, 2007
In 2007, the Seminoles played for a National Championship for the first time, reaching the NCAA College Cup Final after an 18-6-3 season. No. 14 FSU faced No. 9 Southern California in the title match, held December 9 at Ellis Field in College Station, Texas. The Trojans claimed a 2-0 victory, holding the Noles scoreless for only the second time all season. Yet FSU remained aggressive throughout, finishing with 11 shots and earning 11 corner kicks. “Appearing in the national championship game was a tremendous step for our program,” head coach Mark Krikorian said earlier in the postseason. The run established FSU as a national contender and set the stage for future championship success.
