THE CHOKE AT DOAK

The 1994 season was full of memorable moments but none more enduring than what became known as “The Choke at Doak.” The Seminoles entered the fourth quarter down 31-3 to bitter rival Florida. FSU had struggled the entire game but began to turn the tide in the final 15 minutes. QB Danny Kanell led the charge, accumulated 232 passing yards in the fourth quarter alone. While the game ultimately ended in a 31-31 tie, many of the Seminole faithful remember the game as a victory. One fan said of the tie, “We’ll take it. I’ve never heard a crowd this loud, it was pandemonium.”
