SETTING THE STANDARD
Mike Martin led FSU through another defining season in 2012, guiding the Seminoles to their 35th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and a return to the College World Series, ultimately reaching the semifinals. The incredible run underscored the steadiness that had come to define Martin’s squad, one built on preparation, player development and lofty expectations. Martin ultimately accumulated 2,029 career wins and established FSU as one of the most consistent programs in college baseball history. Reflecting on all he built, Martin said, “At Florida State, the expectation is to compete every single year.” The 2012 season reinforced that approach, showing how little the standard changed no matter the roster or the year.
