SAMUEL SETS THE TABLE
Date: March 25, 1972
G Greg Samuel (No. 3) looked to score against UCLA defenders in the 1972 National Championship Game. A 5-foot-8 senior from Hollywood, Florida, Samuel was the floor general for the Seminoles, known for his quickness, vision and ability to distribute the ball. In the title game, he contributed six points and seven assists over 31 minutes, keeping the offense organized against the UCLA’s pressure defense. His steady hand at point guard gave balance and ball movement, making him an essential piece of the 1971-72 squad that reached the National Championship Game. After the game, Noles coach Hugh Durham said, “Samuel, all along, has played well and been one of our most important players.”
