RINGING IN THE NEW MILLENIUM
Date: 1999 Season
FSU closed out 1999 with 11 straight wins and looked to open the new millennium with another in the 2000 Nokia Sugar Bowl. They faced conference rival Virginia Tech on January 4, 2000, with a National Championship on the line. Led by WR Peter Warrick’s staggering 20 points and QB Chris Weinke’s 329 passing yards, the Seminoles completed the feat to wrap up the first 12-0 season in program history. The team took home National Championship rings that displayed two trophies — one for the first title in 1993, and a second for the undefeated title campaign in 1999.
