REST IN TURF
Date: 1988 Season
In a tradition that dates to 1962, the Seminoles commemorate major road victories by bringing a piece of the opposing team’s turf back to Tallahassee. Laid to rest in the Sod Cemetery, each piece of turf is marked by a bronze plaque with the year and score of the game. Seen here are two plaques from the 1988 season, remembering a victory over No. 3 Clemson in the regular season and a victory over No. 7 Auburn in the 1989 Sugar Bowl.
