POWER POINTS
Date: 1970s
After dominating with the freshman squad — reportedly scoring 52 points in a game at Tully Gym — G Ron King broke out during his first varsity season in 1970-71. An AP All-American Honorable Mention, King led the Seminoles with 22.7 points per game and hit the 30-point mark on four occasions. His most outstanding performance came against Georgia Southern on February 11, 1971, setting a program record with 46 points. Only four of those points came on free throws. Head coach and former player Hugh Durham, whose program record of 43 points was broken by King that night, called the sophomore “the best pure shooter” he had seen in Tallahassee. King remains in the program’s top 25 with 1,252 career points.
