POLISH POWER
This Nike cleat belonged to Sebastian Janikowski, one of the most legendary kickers in college football history. Known as “The Polish Powder Keg,” Janikowski possessed a booming left leg that turned him into a game-changing weapon for Bobby Bowden’s Seminoles in the late 1990s. The two-time Lou Groza Award winner routinely nailed 50-plus-yard field goals and was a constant threat to opposing teams. With swagger to match his skill, Janikowski made headlines for his booming kickoffs and clutch performances, earning him first-round status in the 2000 NFL Draft, a rare feat for a kicker. In talking about his approach to kicking the ball, Janikowski said, “my first step is not very hard, but my second is explosive.” This cleat, marked with wear from game use, is a fitting tribute to a player who made special teams must-watch football in Tallahassee.
