BARRON OF THE TRENCHES
Date: 2000s
A dominant force on the offensive line, OT Alex Barron was a leader of FSU’s front five during the early 2000s. Hailing from Orangeburg, South Carolina, Barron brought a rare combination of size, speed and skill to the Seminoles after being recruited out of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. He was a two-time consensus All-American at FSU and a first-round NFL Draft pick by the St. Louis Rams. This jersey, which was preserved by equipment manager Jimmie Callaway, symbolizes Barron’s legacy in the Garnet and Gold. As Bobby Bowden once said, “Barron was as good an offensive tackle as I ever coached.”
