PITCHING A CHAMPIONSHIP SHUTOUT
Date: December 2, 2018
The 2018 College Cup Championship Game came down to one goal, and the Seminoles made sure conference rival North Carolina wasn’t the team scoring. FSU boasted a strong defense all season long, led by M Kaycie Tillman (No. 12) and others, by allowing just 13 goals in 27 matches. The team’s 16 shutouts that season were the most since 19 shutouts in 2014 — the last time FSU won a National Championship. By defeating No. 3 North Carolina 1-0 in the 2018 Championship Game, the Noles blanked their fourth team of the tournament. “I thought our kids fought extremely hard,” said coach Mark Krikorian. “Resilient as can be.”
