MARCH TO THE BEAT
Date: 1960s to 1970s
Football is not the only attraction during home games! The Marching Chiefs have been an institution at Doak Campbell Stadium since the very beginning. A squadron of more than 400 strong, the Marching Chiefs perform a wide variety of music and steps during halftime. The performance includes not just instruments and music, but also the Color Guard, Majorettes and Featured Twirlers. The band has traveled with the team across the country and will make its Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade debut in 2027! A 1982 edition of Sports Illustrated even boasted “Florida State may occasionally lose a football game, but never a halftime show.”
