LOOK OUT, BLUE!
Mike Martin wasn’t shy when he didn’t like a call. Known for his high-pitched yell and thick Southern drawl, Martin would get in the face of umpires and let them have it. As a Seminole assistant coach in the 1970s, Martin pleaded that his baserunner was safe at third. He was ejected and, to show displeasure of the situation, destroyed a bat rack in the dugout. Later, as a first-year head coach in 1980, Martin argued a call in a game against rival Florida. After getting tossed, Martin pulled first base out of the dirt and threw it toward the Gator dugout. He also missed the ending of his 1,300th career win in 2004 after getting ejected in the 8th inning. While Martin tended to be much more mellow in his later years, he still had moments giving umpires a few choice words.
